Mark Kendall took over as Chairman of Arun Young Musicians in June of this year. As a boy, Mark sang in School choirs and learned the clarinet and though he studied politics rather than music at university, he carried on singing. He went on to train at the Royal Northern College of Music and sang professionally for a few years. Now he runs his own artist management agency providing singers and conductors for opera companies, orchestras and festivals all over the world.

Mark writes “I am delighted to have become involved with the Arun Young Musician’s Festival and am really looking forward to working with the committee and the young people of West Sussex and surrounding areas to bring music to life in our local area. I hope that the experience in managing the careers of professional musicians and, of course, as an erstwhile performer will be useful to the AYM committee. We aim to increase significantly the number of entrants to the Festival, to raise its regional profile and to provide a wider variety of performance opportunities, co-operating with other local organisations and musicians”
